Jakarta (ANTARA) – According to the Indonesian Shopping Center Management Association (APPBI), after tightening restrictions on micro-community activities, malls are expected to drop to 10 percent from June 22 to July 5, 2021.
“The attendance rate is expected to drop quite drastically, so that only about 10 percent (visitors) remain,” said APPBI chairman Alphonsus Widjaja when he was contacted here on Tuesday.

Based on experiences from early 2021, micro-scale (micro-scale PPKM) restrictions on community activity would not be effective in reducing the number of COVID-19 cases if carried out partially, he noted.
He said he believes stronger enforcement of the policy is needed, in addition to implementing strict, disciplined and consistent health protocols.
“In shopping centers, strict enforcement of health protocols must also be carried out by the managers and tenants of shopping centers,” he noted.
Vvyaya predicted that the adoption of micro-scale PPKM would slow the pace of economic growth. As a result, he said he expected the government to enforce the restrictions more effectively.
“The government must be able to ensure that restrictions are strictly enforced for this time, while enforcement of health protocols must also be more rigorous, disciplined and consistent so that this economic sacrifice is not in vain,” he said.
Earlier, Coordinating Economy Minister Airlangga Hartarto had said that the operation of shopping centers, including shopping centers and markets, will be limited until 8 p.m. local time in order to reduce the transmission rate of COVID-19, while the number of visitors will also be in the period from June 22nd Limited to 25 percent of capacity from 2021 to July 5, 2021.
