Apple confirms the Apple Card 6% Cashback was a bug but will issue credits to affected users

After over a day of confusion among users, Apple has officially confirmed that Apple purchases made with the Apple Card are only eligible for 3% overnight money. This comes after many Apple Card users noticed that Apple purchases were showing 6% cash daily yesterday. Please see the full details below.

In an email to Apple Card users, Apple confirmed the bug but added that it would take into account the 6% daily cash bonus for affected users.

You may have noticed that a recent Apple purchase was eligible for 6% overnight money instead of the usual 3% overnight money.

This was a bug due to a system problem, but in addition to the 3% daily cash you already received for this purchase, we’ll give you a one-time credit back for an additional 3% daily cash – a total of 6% daily cash for this purchase.

The one-time credit is displayed in the wallet app as a balance adjustment. This will also appear on your monthly statement in October.

As a reminder, future purchases from Apple are eligible and earn an unlimited 3% daily cash. If you have any questions, contact an Apple Card specialist.

The confusion was compounded by Apple’s silence on the matter, as well as the fact that the company has previously offered legitimate 6% daily cash bonuses on two separate occasions. Still, this time it just seems to have been a mistake.

Apple Card Daily Cash is issued at the end of each day and appears directly on your Apple Cash card in the Wallet app on your iPhone. You can then send that money to your bank, add it to your Apple Card balance, spend it with Apple Pay, or use it to fund Apple Cash transactions with friends and family.
