SIDNEY – Shelby County Libraries Foundation is attending Community Foundation Match Day to raise funds for the Summer Reading program at all six locations and several learning technology articles.
“The Summer Reading program was popular at all of our locations across the country. Match Day can help us attract more readers to participate next summer, â€said Suzanne Cline, Executive Director. “We also need help buying a large format printer for our STEM lab, which is now staffed and programmed regularly, as well as new levels of Launch Pads and Wonderbooks, which are electronic learning devices.”
Launch Pads are electronic tablets that contain special educational games that offer different levels for children of preschool age and older. Wonderbooks are printed books with an electronic reader so children can overhear the story as they read.
“Matchday gifts have helped us provide additional items that would normally not be covered by our budget,” said Cline.
To support Match Day of the Shelby County Libraries Foundation, gifts to the Community Foundation of Shelby County must be made payable using: Match / Shelby County Libraries listed on the memo or on an accompanying note or form. Details and forms are available on the Community Foundation website at commfoun.com and in the Shelby County Libraries in Anna, Botkins, Fort Loramie, Jackson Center, Russia and Sydney. Gifts must be received on or before November 30th to be eligible for Matching Money. Credit card gifts can only be given on November 30th.
The Community Foundation of Shelby County hosts their Match Day event on Giving Tuesday each year. Twenty-three local charities will ask their supporters to make a gift totaling US $ 5,000 per charity to the Community Foundation.
Matchday participating organizations are 501 (c) (3) taxable and have an organization fund within the Community Foundation of Shelby County with assets in excess of the Foundation’s minimum capital. Gifts received are not paid into an organization’s fund, but returned to the organization for their work in the community.
