Demolition of the Nasla tower, protest in Faizabad, CII meeting, TLP deadline

Here are some of the developments that we will be following today, Tuesday, October 26th, 2021.

The Karachi Commissioner has called a meeting on the demolition of the Nasla Tower, a 15-story residential building at the intersection of Shahrah-e-Faisal and Sharah-e-Quaideen. The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) on Monday urged authorities to implement his earlier order to demolish the building within a week. Karachi Commissioner Iqbal Memon will chair the meeting on Tuesday afternoon. The congregation will decide how most safely the tower can be destroyed by controlled detonation. Traders from all over Pakistan are planning a sit-in on Islamabad’s busiest intersection in Faizabad today. They announced the protest at a press conference in Islamabad on Friday to oppose the FBR’s plan to install POS machines in 500,000 companies across the country.

The Islamic Ideology Council (CII) begins its two-day session in Islamabad today to discuss important issues related to anti-rape laws and the death penalty, among other things.

The outlawed Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan has not ended its protest march, which stopped in Muridke near Lahore on Sunday after Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed held talks with the TLP leaders. The protesters had given the government a deadline for their demands and warned to resume the march if the government did not act. The deadline ends this evening. The march has resulted in roadblocks in several cities in Punjab.

Rail Minister Azam Swati will appear before the Pakistani Electoral Commission (ECP) today. The EKP has summoned him for his statements against the election commission and its boss.
