PAYMENT METHODS – Of the 10 million inhabitants of the Czech Republic, almost 6 million can be described as online shoppers. User penetration in this market was 54 percent in 2020 and is expected to be 65 percent by 2025. When it comes to payment methods, the Czech Republic is known for its high level of cash use. Cash on delivery is still the most popular payment method and accounts for 45 percent of transactions. Bank transfers cover almost 30 percent of transactions.
PRODUCT CATEGORIES – In terms of sales, fashion (29 percent) is the most popular product category in Czech e-commerce. This is followed by consumer electronics & media (28 percent), toys, hobbies & home improvement (23 percent), furniture & household appliances (12 percent) and food & personal care (8 percent).

The e-commerce market in the Czech Republic
According to Statista data, the Czech e-commerce industry was worth around 2.5 billion euros in 2019, and a value of 3.39 billion euros is forecast for 2020. This website also predicts that online sales in the Czech Republic will grow by 2.57 percent annually until 2025. However, the Electronic Commerce Association (APEK) says that e-commerce was worth 155 billion Czech crowns in 2019 , this corresponds to 5.93 billion euros. Czech e-commerce accounts for 13 percent of the country’s retail sales.

The Czech Republic has a number of large online retailers. Among them is Alca.cz, which sells all kinds of consumer electronics online. Another large e-commerce company is the online department store Mall.cz. The Rohlik.cz supermarket also has a very strong online presence, and CZC.cz is also a popular online shop.
