Electronic payment options increased in the first quarter

The number of electronic payment options has increased significantly in the first quarter of 2021, based on the latest payment data published by the Hungarian National Bank (MNB) on its website.

In December 2020, around 123,000 physical and 24,000 Internet acceptance points formed the payment card acceptance network of the domestic payment service providers.

By March 2021, the number of the former had risen to nearly 140,000 while the number of the latter had risen to nearly 26,000, which is very significant growth in three months.

At the end of the first quarter of this year, a total of 212,950 POS terminals were in operation at acceptance points, the MNB announced.
