Ethnic E-grocer Weee! Hire direct-to-consumer marketing veteran Guillaume McIntyre

McIntyre joins the company as the e-grocery retailer continues to grow and follow at 700% year over year $315 million Series D funding in April to expand the company’s fresh produce service regions and product categories.

McIntyre is credited with helping establish Netflix’s presence in Latin America by driving digital marketing initiatives leading to significant expansion of the business and laying a foundation for growth in the region. He co-founded direct-to-consumer startup Pique Tea before joining Instacart to build the acquisition marketing team and contribute to the company’s explosive growth. McIntyre was also VP of Marketing at The Information, where he oversaw the consumer business and grew annual sales to an all-time high. He is a graduate of University of California at Berkeley Walter A. Haas School of business.

Grocery remains the least penetrated retail segment in e-commerce and the ethnic grocery market is expected to be outperformed $464 billion until 20301. Of these, the Asian and Hispanic populations in the US are growing the fastest2. The Weee! focuses specifically on these groups in 14 key regions from coast to coast and plans to expand to 30 cities North America until 2024.

“The future of e-tailing will be multi-ethnic and multi-cultural, with Asian and Hispanic demographics as the fastest growing segments,” he said Larry Liu, Founder and Chief Executive Officer. “Guillaume’s track record in consumer marketing and his dynamic understanding of ethnic shoppers will be critical to our ability to quickly and at scale serve the unique needs of these underserved communities.”

McIntyre is the latest world-class talent to join the Weee! accession the appointments earlier this year from Ankur Shah as CFO & Chief Strategy Officer and Thomas Jeon as General Counsel.
