“Creando believes every child will benefit cognitively, socially and culturally from learning a second language,” the company’s website states. “In addition to improving their own cognitive development and learning skills in many areas, cultural awareness and the ability to communicate with more people around the world make children learning a second language better global citizens.”
This 7,100-square-foot building on the corner of Midvale Boulevard and University Avenue has been vacant for nearly two years. A Creando Exploritorium preschool is slated to open this summer in about half of the building.

The 7,100-square-foot Fleming’s opened in 2006, just at the beginning of the mall transformation that has since yielded millions of dollars in improvements. This included converting the indoor mall into an outdoor center with green areas, multi-storey car parks and squares. New additions included a Target, Great Dane Pub & Brewing Co., Apple Store, LL Bean and several restaurants.
Hilldale plans to expand south with a dramatic project that could include apartments, a hotel, retail, restaurants and a space for ice skating and live entertainment.

On Tuesday, City Council approved changes that pave the way for a future expansion of the Hilldale shopping center that could include more retail space, an outdoor space and possibly a hotel or accommodation.
Under the plan, Hilldale would expand adjacent, former BMO Harris Bank property – purchased in 2017 by mall owner WS Development – and a parking lot, both immediately south of the existing mall. The expansion could include four new buildings between two and six stories, as well as a possible renovation of the existing AMC theater building into retail space if the theater company does not renew its lease.
