Found: a clock and a walking stick
LOVE SUNSETS: We found a clock on Saturday, September 18, around 5 p.m. across from Holy Family Church in Lewiston. If you think it might be yours please contact me at 440-4794. – No name, no city
LOVE SUNSETS: As we were driving from Livermore Falls on Route 4 towards Jay at around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday September 18, a stick seemed to fall from the roof of the car in front. On the way back the stick was still on the street. My husband stopped to get it. It’s an adjustable metal stick. If the owner can identify it we would love to return it to them. Please contact us at 615-3203. Thank you for helping us find the owner of a lost item. – Diane, East Livermore

LOVE SUN SPOTS: We can always count on you and I have a good one for you. I’m a senior and I’m having a problem with a credit card company that says I owe them over $ 2,000 for something I didn’t buy. There was an investigation but nothing was resolved. I don’t owe this money. I need help. – No name, no city
ANSWERS: If you see a line item on your credit card statement for something you don’t know, call the customer service number on the back of your credit card to report the problem. Most payment card fraud investigations are conducted by the cardholder’s issuing bank and not by a card network such as Visa or Mastercard. Generally, following a complaint from a customer, the bank collects all relevant information and carefully examines the transaction details.
Another thing you can do is look carefully at the information in the description of the purchase. There may be a toll-free number for the company or store where the purchase was made. If not, find the number online. For example, if the item was purchased on Amazon, there is a number that you can call for more information.
You may be dealing with a scam or you may have accidentally bought something online without realizing it. Keep working with your credit card company and don’t give up. the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA) S.states that credit card users are only liable for fraudulent charges up to US $ 50.
The major credit card networks – Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express – go a step further by offering “zero liability” policies. This means that you don’t have to pay a penny in the event of fraud.
If you need further help with this problem, SeniorPlus (seniorsplus.org, 795-4010) may have resources available to you to access. Other places to contact are Pine Tree Legal (784-1558, ptla.org) and Maine 211 (2-1-1, www.211maine.org).
