Free 2 Teach opens Tuesday for school teachers
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – A popular resource for school teachers in Huntsville opens its doors on July 6th.
The manager says more than 1,000 teachers have already signed up for free materials.
The first day of school is only a few weeks away.
âWe are currently focused on Madison County’s three public school systems. These are school teachers from Huntsville, Madison and Madison Counties, âsaid Alison Kling, Executive Director of Free 2 Teach.
All of the items on the shelf and on the shelves are free for teachers to use in their classrooms.
âWe want to make sure that teachers don’t spend out of pocket and that children get the materials they need to be successful. I’ve been teaching and I know how it feels, âsaid Kling.
There are limits to how many items each teacher can get.
âTeachers walk with a shopping cart full of materials donated by people in our community. They go with an average of 565 US dollars in materials and accessories every time they go shopping, âsaid Kling.
We spoke to a first grader at Mt. Carmel Elementary School who says she wants to sign up for Free 2 Teach shopping before the school year starts.
âI go to Free 2 Teach to find things that will improve my teaching in my classroom, maybe unusual things that I can’t just get from the school supplies list. Extra things to help my children learn, âsaid Allison Haithcock.
