As GOBankingRates reports, the advance payment of the CTC as part of the stimulus package has already lifted millions of children out of poverty, with an estimated 3 million children thanks to the July controls alone.
Some people may not have signed up for the tax credit yet – but that’s fine, you can still get the benefit.
This tax credit is fully refundable, meaning you don’t have to repay it. You are also entitled to the loan no matter how little you earn, even if you don’t pay any tax at all. The main requirement is that you make $ 75,000 or less when filing individually or $ 150,000 together.
Although the credit is already in the third round, you can register for it today and receive your performance. The full benefit amount is US $ 3,600 per child under 6 years old and US $ 250 per child aged 6-17 years.
Those who enrolled early or filed taxes for 2019 or 2020 will receive half, $ 1,800 of the full $ 3,600 benefit amount in these monthly payments. The other half can be claimed in the next year during the tax period.
But let’s say you sign up now – how much do you get?
Overall the same. You can sign up now and receive the rest of the monthly payments from October. In the last three months of the year, the last three checks are deposited directly into the accounts. A perk for late registrants – your monthly checks will be larger.
You will still receive half of the total benefit amount in 2021. If you sign up now, your monthly checks will be almost double compared to those that started in July.
