Michigan State Police host civilian response to active rifle training in Bay City
BAY CITY, MI – Michigan State Police are hosting a civilian response to active rifle training in Bay City.
Community Service Trooper Mark Burch, assigned to the MSP’s Tri-City Post, teaches a session of the training program called Citizen Response to Active Shooter Events, or CRASE. The session will begin on Wednesday, December 15 at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium of the Bay Arenac Career Center, 4155 Monitor Road.
The training is suitable for adults aged 18 and over. Entry is free.
To register, visit www.research.net/r/9XNWZBG. The training is open to the first 200 registered participants.
CRASE is a nationally recognized training program developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) in partnership with Texas State University that provides civilians with strategies and guidance on how to survive an active shooting event.
Officials say the knowledge gained in CRASE is applicable to any public place including schools, shopping malls, places of worship and office environments.
ALERRT is funded in part by the US Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Criminal Justice Division of the Texas Governor’s Office.
The MSP reminds students, staff and citizens to “say something” to a staff member or parent as soon as they see or hear something.
Tips can be sent to MSP 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to OK2SAY by phone at 8-555-OK2SAY or by SMS 652729 (OK2SAY). Tips can also be submitted by email, on the website or via the OK2SAY mobile app.
