Mobile phone tips for the summer: touch contactless payment apps | reviews
The tiny computers we carry in our back pockets always seem to have a different trick in their protective cases. While mastering all of this would likely require the dedication and knowledge of a graduate student, there are a few features you may not be familiar with that can save you trouble.
Contactless payment
We have all seen the signs that encourage us to use âcontactless paymentâ. But what is it and how do you set it?
Many newer iPhones, Android-based devices, and even some credit cards allow you to tap them right on the pay terminals instead of the usual swipe, chip-reading, and pin-panic reminding that we’re used to.
On many newer iPhones you can open the integrated “Wallet” app, press the plus symbol in the upper right corner and enter your credit card details. Once you’re done, every time you pay for something, instead of knocking out that shiny plastic square, you can instead double-click your phone’s power button, enter your password, and tap it on the card reader.
On newer Android-based devices, credit cards can be added via the âGoogle Payâ app. Once added, you can pay by unlocking your phone and tapping it on the card reader. Your phone launches the Google Pay app, prompts for a password, and completes the transaction without touching a pin pad touched by thousands of people who paid before you.
