New parking space available in the Massena Arena with loss of other spaces | St. Lawrence County
MASSENA – With the construction of a new emergency center at the Harte Haven shopping center, some of the parking spaces previously used for visitors to the Massena Arena have been removed, but new parking spaces have been added to make up for these losses.
The ice season started on Monday, and recreational officials had previously announced that new parking would be available on the side of the building.
Recreation Director Michael McCabe said there are now 19 seats available between the arena and State Route 37. Traffic is one way, with vehicles entering from the front building for side parking and exiting the back of the building on Romeo Avenue.
With the start of the ice season in the arena, the recreational officials had more information for the arena visitors. Masks must be worn by everyone entering the building including players / skaters and spectators. However, players / skaters do not have to wear masks on the ice.
The changing rooms will also be open, but chairs are available outside the changing rooms for players / skaters who do not wish to use the changing room.
WellNow Urgent Care officials announced earlier this year that they would be opening in the village at 94 Grove St. in the Harte mall between Burger King and the Massena Arena. Construction is currently underway.
WellNow Urgent Care has more than 50 centers in New York, 30 in Ohio, four in Michigan and three in Illinois. One of its New York centers is located at 1233 Arsenal St. in Watertown.
The new center will provide timely walk-in service for a variety of non-life threatening injuries and illnesses such as sprains, burns, lacerations, colds and allergies. It will also offer on-site x-rays, laboratory tests, and physical exams. Same day and next day, COVID-19 tests are available without an appointment at WellNow locations in New York.
Officials expected it to open in late 2021, depending on the weather during construction.
