AMD’s official online retail sites currently list the Radeon RX 6900 XT and Ryzen 7 5800X3D as available and for sale at their respective MSRPs. They retail for $999 and $449, respectively. Or you can buy both together for $1,448. The same prices apply in Europe, with the store doing a 1:1 conversion from USD to EUR.
Visiting the retail sites, we checked for stock and successfully added the title GPU and CPU to a shopping cart before venturing out to checkout. However, adding another identical GPU or CPU to the basket didn’t work — so it looks like AMD intelligently capped the basket to discourage people from buying these in bulk. This is a good move as not many regular PC enthusiasts and gamers need to buy more than one product. However, we don’t know what would happen if we complete the checkout and revisit the store with the exact checkout details (name, address, and payment card).
Earlier this week we were pleased to report that AMD is selling its latest RDNA2 GPUs and attractive new Ryzen 7 5800X3D at MSRPs at PAX East in Boston. We pondered whether sales of the Radeon RX 6700 XT, RX 6800 XT, and RX 6900 XT Halo Infinite Edition reference design GPUs, as well as the Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU recently released at the show, were a sign of things to come. It certainly seems to play that way.

On the Ryzen 7 5800X3D, this new 3D V-Cache-enhanced CPU made some waves at launch and sold out quickly, with various parties attempting to sell chips well above MSRP. We were a bit concerned whether AMD has enough of these CPUs in the pipeline, as it may have been surprised by the demand. However, monitoring PAX East sales and the wide geographic availability of the 5800X3D direct from AMD have eased those concerns.
The AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D is a special 8C/16T CPU in some ways, being a first consumer PC processor with 3D stacked SRAM technology – for 96MB L3 cache. Additionally, its existence marks a satisfying pinnacle of gaming performance that users of older AM4 systems can aspire to. Because of this, we feel stocks of this chip must be available and will remain available for some time. The other note is that the Ryzen 7 5800X3D is a good product for its MSRP. Still, its stupid post-launch pricing has completely ruined it as a sensible proposition (unlike AMD and Intel alternatives) for extending the work/play lifespan of your AM4 system.
