Round Rock Police take extra precautions for Christmas shoppers


ROUND ROCK, TX – As people prepare for Christmas shopping, Round Rock police will be taking extra precautions for shoppers this season.

The department will install two Skywatch towers in malls in high-traffic shopping areas of the city. The same towers were placed in shopping malls during Black Friday.

At this point, the towers in Old Settlers Park will be set up for the Light Up the Lake event this weekend in Round Rock.

Officials said police patrols are increasing on the streets around shopping malls as well as in parking lots. This holiday season, the department has restarted Operation Front Porch to protect residents’ parcels from portal pirates.
