With this latest edition of the SemaConnect family of products, the Series 8, we have further developed our strategy for developing products and services to support the growing use cases of the EV charging market.

SemaConnect, the leading provider of electric vehicles in the North American commercial real estate market, announces a new solution for charging public electric vehicles: the Series 8 charging station. The Series 8 is powered by an open network platform and features a credit card reader and other flexible payment options that provide access to all EV drivers regardless of whether they are on a charging network. Now the operators of retail and public parking garages can offer the most flexible charging option of the intelligent and convenient EV charging guide.

The new Series 8 is a level 2 charging station designed for retail and public parking spaces, featuring SemaConnect’s signature sleek design, interactive LED lights and an easy-to-use network platform. Station owners can set custom access and pricing to meet the needs of multiple users. The 8 Series has a brand new credit card reader and NFC capabilities to make public charging even easier for drivers, and an onboard camera for future use.

The SemaConnect Series 8 charging stations offer the driver the greatest number of options for initiating and paying for a charging process:

  • SemaConnect app
  • SemaConnect website
  • SemaConnect network pass
  • Credit card through automated telephone system
  • Credit card through credit card reader
  • Apple Pay
  • Google Pay
  • Pay with PlugShare
  • ChargeHub pass

“With this latest edition of the SemaConnect family of products, the 8 Series, we have further developed our product and service development strategy to support the growing use cases of the EV charging market,” said Mark Pastrone, COO at SemaConnect. “The addition of the credit card reader expands the group of drivers who can charge vehicles at SemaConnect stations. This type of open access is critical to the growth of the charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. “

In addition to the Series 8 Retail charging station, SemaConnect also launched the Series 7 Plus High-Power Fleet charging station at the beginning of this year, thus expanding its product range of Level 2 charging stations, which also include Series 5 for Multifamily and Series 6 for Commercial and universal applications and the 7 series for fleets.

“We are excited to introduce our latest solution for EV charging in retail and public parking lots,” said Mahi Reddy, Founder and CEO of SemaConnect. “It is a strategic imperative to expand and build on our open network approach so that more drivers can have access to EV charging. Series 8 in combination with our other and future product versions will increase the acceptance of electric vehicles. “
