swr: Digital India: Swr installs 120 POS machines in trains | Hubballi news

Hubballi: South Western Railway (SWR) has partnered with State Bank of India (SBI) to promote digital payments on board trains through 120 point-of-sale (PoS) machines.
On Monday, SWR managing director Sanjeev Kishore received the PoS machines from Rajendran S, the deputy managing director of SBI, Hubballi, at an event in the main branch in Keshwapur, which was organized on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the bank branch.
Kishore said that organizational transformation, especially in the public sector, is challenging. Nevertheless, SBI showed the way forward. “To advance the Prime Minister’s Digital India Initiative, SWR has teamed up with SBI to expand digital payment methods. 330 POS machines are already installed at SWR and at the counters of the Unreserved Ticketing System / Passenger Reservation System and parcel offices. Now, for the first time, 120 POS machines are being used for TTE / ticket checking staff. 40, 50 and 30 machines will be installed in the Hubballi, Bengaluru and Mysuru divisions, ”he said.
“This step will improve the transparency and speed of transactions and promote cashless payments for passengers in the midst of Covid-19. It offers passengers flexibility in payment options. Ticket inspection staff can redeem the fees through digital payments from passengers. The system also tracks real-time cash flow and makes it easy to maintain records and avoid corruption, ”he said.
