The Community Christmas Card continues to help students at Aiken County Public School
November 15th – The holiday season is back and the Aiken community can help high school students and families by donating to the community Christmas Card.
The fifth annual community Christmas card is back and will serve students in the Aiken Public School District year-round.
“Students feel very cared for when they have immediate physical needs, things we must have for them, they feel looked after and the school is a place where they can meet their needs,” said Shari Hooper, Aiken County Public Schools Senior Advisor to the Primary School.
For a donation of $ 1 or more, Aiken Standard will publish the contributor’s name in the Christmas issue of the newspaper. In total, 100% of the proceeds will be distributed to the Aiken Count Public School District to help students with glasses, shoes, school supplies or services.
“What I like most is that the counselor is able to decide what the main needs of this school are. Some schools have more needs for book bags, some schools have needs for school supplies, sometimes we have things that come up,” said Hooper.
Hooper said the school even bought clothes like coats and underwear for the students.
“We have a little freedom in how we can spend this money so that it has the best possible impact on our people and our school,” said Hooper.
Readers can donate for themselves, honor another person, or donate in memory of a loved one. Companies and organizations can also make a donation on behalf of their employees or members.
âAs of 2017, Aiken Standard readers and local businesses have donated more than $ 18,000 to support this fund. As we move into year five, we don’t know what the need is in our schools, but we have a real measure of the generosity of our readers, “said Rhonda Overbey, editor of Aiken Standard and North Augusta Star.
To make an online donation visit aikenstandard.com/donate. Readers have the option to add additional names per US dollar donated, which will be added to the community Christmas card when the transaction is completed on the payment gateway.
For readers who prefer to donate by mail, please write their names legibly on the Community Christmas Card and send at least $ 1 per name. The postal address for the Aiken Standard is 326 Rutland Drive, Aiken, SC 29802.
A telephone donation is also possible. Readers can reach the whole office Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 803-648-2311 to post the donation on their debit or credit card.
The closing date for entries is Friday, December 17th at 5 p.m.
All contributions are placed in an easily accessible fund and used at the discretion of Aiken County Public Schools advisors to help their students meet immediate needs.
