The new program allows California students to begin college abroad and transfer to any public college in the state
PORTLAND, Ore., April 15, 2021 /PRNewswire/ — Verto Education, a company that provides students with a “gap year without a gap,” today announced the launch of a partnership California Students with a seamless path to spend their first semester or year abroad while earning credits for transfer into a State University of California (CSU) or University of California (UC) institution. Developed in collaboration with College of Siskiyousthis unique model offers students a comprehensive, affordable academic year that encourages personal growth and prepares them for academic success California’s public universities.

With a view to ensuring access and equal opportunities for all students, California Residents who demonstrate financial need and are eligible for the Cal Grant pay as little as possible $1,000 per semester. Participating students receive 12-15 credits per semester, which are seamlessly transferred to the College of Siskiyouswhich allows students to transfer to the university of their choice and graduate with a bachelor’s degree in four years.
With many countries around the world eliminating or drastically reducing their COVID-19 cases, this program offers students the opportunity to study there London, Spain, Italy, Hawaii, Fiji or Costa Rica. Structured around small class sizes, the program’s coursework is designed to encourage cultural immersion, build confidence, and develop important skills such as problem-solving, reasoning, and collaboration. Students take courses such as English, Spanish, Statistics, Diversity in American Music, Environmental Studies, and Cultural Anthropology.

founded in 1957, College of Siskiyous is one of 116 publicly funded California community colleges and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. The Fire/Emergency Response Technology Program is an accredited regional academy for the State Fire Marshal’s Office. The Paramedic/Emergency Physician, Licensed Occupational Nursing and Registered Nursing programs, and POST Law Enforcement Academy are accredited by their respective state agencies.
COS is located at the foot of the majestic Mount Shasta (elevation 14,162 feet) in the extreme north California. The 250-acre main campus is located in the historic timber town of Weed, named for its founder Abner grassand is easily accessible from Interstate 5 and Highway 97. The lesson began September 10, 1959 with 67 students and only three campus buildings. From that humble beginning College of Siskiyous (COS) has greatly expanded its programs, services and facilities.
The main campus offers associate degrees and certificate programs in arts, athletics, liberal arts, science, math, as well as career and technical programs in business/computer science, paramedic, fire, and welding, to name a few. Students have access to academic counseling, academic assessment, library services and resources, career counseling, personal counseling, financial assistance, Disabled Student Programs and Services (DSPS), Enhanced Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS), Student Support Services (SSS), sales and Repurchase of textbooks and tutoring services. COS is also one of only eleven community colleges in California Offer students housing on campus.
