Vesta survey shows increasing consumer spending through clothing, electronics and gastronomy

PORTLAND, Ore., June 17, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Vesta, an end-to-end transactional guarantee platform for online purchases, today released survey results showing an impressive surge in consumer spending driven by a return to life after the pandemic in the U.S. Nearly half (49%) of respondents gave more than $ 250 last month for non-essential items and 63% intend to spend at least money $ 100 on unnecessary things this month.

Most of the spending is on clothing, with 69% of respondents bought clothing in the last month and 54% intending to buy clothing in the next month. Eating out in restaurants followed, with 58% of respondents eating out last month and 36% planning to do the same in the next month. Electronics rounded out the categories with the highest spending, with 53% of respondents buying an electronic device last month and 41% planning to buy one in the next month.

The survey also found that most consumers still prefer to shop online, with 64% of purchases being made on desktops or mobile devices. 42% of respondents made their last non-essential purchases with a credit card and 30% used a debit card. Only 10% of purchases were made with cash.
